Sacramento Community Clinic is Hiring a Collection Specialist Near Sacramento, CA

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the Billing Manager, the Collection Specialist is responsible for effective collection on patient accounts, accounts receivable follow-up, and reimbursement analysis. Monitor accounts aging details. Coordinates activities with the billing manager and billing staff and reports to accounting department for accounts receivable recording

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Listed below you will find Essential Duties and Responsibilities to successfully perform this job.

  • Ensure all provider charges, treatments, and codes are posted correctly
  • Prepare and submit clean claims to various insurance companies
  • Work payer rejects and denials
  • Interpret and resolve accounts receivable problems with patients and insurance companies
  • Research customer discrepancies, discuss any deviation from client payment plans, obtain appropriate approvals to have open credits applied, and, in general, keep the accounts receivable systems clean
  • Research disputed delinquent account balances, correct any errors including misapplied payments, direct deposit, and overpayment from insurance errors
  • Responsible for the generation and mailing of weekly patient billing, and accurate collection of accounts receivable
  • Support and train site checkout staff and patient representatives in charge entry system
  • Review status of delinquent accounts and initiate appropriate collection action including telephone calls and correspondence on delinquent accounts
  • Support management on special projects
  • Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction as reflected on patient satisfaction surveys and other measurement tools
  • Assist dental and medical staff with billing/account questions
  • Answer patient inquiries regarding statements/billing
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Billing Manager

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATES:

  • High School Diploma OR equivalent. Bachelor’s in accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Certificate of completion for an accredited Billing and Coding program OR Certified Code Certificate OR equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of three years of experiences in billing and/or coding OR in accounting. Two years of experience in FQHC setting qualifies for this position.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • Practices in a professional manner, and collaborates with other health team member
  • Knowledge of policies, and resources in a community clinic setting.
  • Personal computer skills including Word, Excel, Power point, and Outlook.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a high volume environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and perform a variety of tasks in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to take initiative, function with a high level of independence and problem solve.
  • Some knowledge on health insurance coverage(s) and how they are applied to patients in all areas of health, including but not limited to: medical, behavioral and dental.

COMMUNICATION:

  • Effective oral and written communication skills to make presentations
  • Communicates in a positive, professional and effective manner with members of the health care team.
  • Answers inquiries accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Write reports, memos, and evaluation in a complete, clear, concise and timely manner

ATTENDANCE:

  • Regular attendance is a requirement of this position.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour
